Mayfield School has been named Independent School of the Year for Student Wellbeing 2026.
Mayfield, an independent Catholic day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18 in East Sussex, was praised by judges for its whole-school approach and exceptional pastoral care.
They added that student leadership, outstanding facilities and a carefully structured school day created a culture in which every pupil feels known, valued and championed.
Deborah Bligh, Headmistress of Mayfield School, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. At Mayfield, wellbeing is not a programme or a standalone initiative; it is woven into every aspect of school life.
“We believe girls learn best when they feel safe, understood and valued. This award reflects the dedication of our staff, the contribution of our students and the strength of a community that places care, connection and belonging at its heart.
“What makes this recognition particularly special is that it acknowledges something we witness every day: young people growing in confidence, resilience and happiness because they know they are surrounded by people who believe in them.”
