A Year 7 pupil at Sandroyd School in Wiltshire impressed staff and class mates with the creative headdress she designed from reclaimed rubbish.

Using plastic lids, tubing, foam and wire from the Dorset Scrap Store, Manihsaeh P’s creation was part of the school’s showcase entitled ‘Fantasy’.

Manihsaeh sustainable work saw her cut, manipulate, glue and spray-paint each piece in vibrant fluorescent colours to transform what were ordinary materials into something imaginative and theatrical.

Amelia Locke, Head of Marketing at Sandroyd School, said: “Manihsaeh’s finished headdress explores scale, form and colour, with sweeping loops and spikes creating a bold silhouette.

“Elements of influence can be seen from Frank Stella, Katharina Grosse, Philip Treacy and graffiti, and the result was a wearable piece of art.”

Sandroyd School is a co-ed boarding school for children aged two to 13, located near Salisbury.
