A new pre-prep class is to open at Aldro School from September 2027, offering children a continuous educational journey from reception to the end of Year 8.
The move comes as Aldro, a co-ed day and boarding school in Surrey, prepares to join the Radley Schools Group in February 2027.
Chris Carlier, headmaster at Aldro, explained that the development of a nursery and pre-prep has been part of Aldro’s long-term vision and that investment from Radley will make this happen.
Mr Carlier said: “This is a hugely exciting development for Aldro. Our ambition is to provide an exceptional start to each child’s educational journey, nurturing their curiosity, confidence and love of learning.
“We want our youngest pupils to enjoy all the warmth, opportunities and sense of belonging that make Aldro such a special place. The pre-prep is also an important investment in the future of the whole school.
“By welcoming children at an earlier age, we will be creating a seamless educational journey through to the end of Year 8, while strengthening Aldro for the benefit of all our pupils.”
Initially, the pre-prep will be based in Aldro’s existing junior corridor, which will be adapted to provide an attractive learning environment for younger children. Plans are also being developed for a purpose-built nursery on the school site, which will eventually exist with the pre-prep under one roof.
Recruitment is underway for a head of pre-prep who will join the school’s senior leadership team. Visit here for more details about Aldro.
