Sidcot School Celebrates Creativity With Vibrant Art & Design Showcase

Posted: 1st October 2026

Sidcot School recently opened its doors to families, friends, and art enthusiasts for its highly anticipated annual summer exhibition, celebrating the culmination of a two-year creative journey for GCSE and A Level students.

The vibrant showcase highlighted exceptional talent, dedication, and individual voice across art, photography, design, and technology. It closely followed the success of the recent International Baccalaureate (IB) Art Exhibition, further cementing Sidcot’s reputation as a thriving hub for creative expression.

Exhibiting a diverse array of thoughtful and ambitious work, students explored themes ranging from identity, culture, and memory to human relationships and the world at large. Rather than adhering to a single house style, students are encouraged to pursue personal curiosities. As Student Art Ambassadors noted, “Behind every final piece are sketchbooks, photoshoots, tests, mistakes, breakthroughs, and countless creative decisions.”

This freedom of exploration is heavily supported by Sidcot’s specialist facilities, including fine art and ceramics studios, photography darkrooms, digital suites, and 3D printers, alongside enrichment opportunities like the department’s upcoming student excursion to New York. Many participating students are now taking their creativity global. Popular destinations for graduating artists include the University of the Arts London, while Year 13 photographer Chi is heading to Melbourne, Australia, to study photography.

Upstairs, the Technology exhibition displayed an impressive range of projects. GCSE students designed sophisticated storage solutions utilizing flexi-ply curves, while A Level students tackled technically demanding pieces like aesthetic beehives and sleek modern lighting. A major highlight of the evening was a spectacular fashion show celebrating GCSE and A Level Textiles work. Featuring remarkable technical mastery, including a wedding dress, corsets, and tailored trousers, garments blended high-level craftsmanship with powerful messaging, such as a standout GCSE project inspired by the ‘What Were You Wearing?’ exhibit. Adding a culinary dimension to the evening, students enrolled in the school’s prestigious Leiths Cookery Course catered the event. Serving drinks and delicious canapés crafted around values of sustainability and curiosity, the students showcased the professional-grade cooking skills fostered by this prestigious curriculum.

Sidcot School extended its heartfelt pride and congratulations to all participating students, acknowledging the visionary leadership of creative departments and curatorial skill of the Art department in bringing the unforgettable showcase to life. View more of Sidcot students artwork here.
