Boarding in Burford: Discover a Home in the Heart of the Cotswolds

Posted: 15th September 2026

Burford School is inviting prospective families to its Open Evening on Thursday 17 September, offering an opportunity to discover the school’s academic, co-curricular and boarding provision.

The boarding house will be open from 4-5pm, with the day school open 4:30- 7:30pm. The event is designed to give families a feel for life at Burford and the opportunities available to pupils as they look ahead to their next stage of education. Visitors will be able to learn more about the school, meet members of the community and discover how Burford supports pupils to respect, participate and reach their potential.

A particular focus of the evening will be the school’s boarding provision. The boarding house will be welcoming visitors from 4pm to 5pm, providing families with the chance to see the environment in which boarders live, study and spend time together. For families considering boarding, this is an opportunity to ask questions, understand the day-to-day experience and explore how Burford can provide a welcoming and supportive home from home.

Located in the heart of the Cotswolds, Burford School combines a strong sense of place with excellent connections to London and beyond. The school is served by direct trains to London, with the journey taking approximately 20 minutes from Farringdon. This makes Burford an attractive option for families seeking a boarding school environment while remaining within easy reach of the capital and surrounding areas.

The Open Evening will also be an opportunity to discover what makes Burford distinctive: a community shaped by its values, its long history and its commitment to helping young people develop confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.

For military families and those who relocate regularly, finding a school where children can settle quickly and feel secure is especially important. Burford’s boarding community offers continuity, connection and the chance to build lasting friendships, while its location provides a peaceful setting in which pupils can learn and grow.

Families are warmly encouraged to attend the Open Evening and explore whether Burford could be the right fit for their child. The boarding house will be open from 4pm to 5pm, with the wider Open Evening continuing until 7pm.
