Pangbourne College has announced that it is joining the Mill Hill Education Group, one of the UK’s largest educational charities, in a strategic charitable merger designed to enhance opportunities for pupils and staff while preserving the College’s distinctive identity, values and traditions.
Following a detailed review process, Pangbourne’s Governors and Head concluded that Mill Hill Education Group offered the strongest strategic fit, sharing the College’s commitment to educational excellence and long-term development. The partnership will enable Pangbourne to build on its success and further strengthen its position as a leading independent school in the South East.
The merger will provide access to group-wide expertise in curriculum development, wellbeing and teaching innovation, alongside expanded opportunities for pupils through enrichment programmes, leadership initiatives, competitions and collaboration with other schools across the Group. Pangbourne will also benefit from increased capacity to invest in staff development, facilities and educational provision.
Oliver Knight, Head of Pangbourne College, said: “Joining Mill Hill Education Group is not about changing who we are; it is about building on our strengths and creating even more opportunities for our pupils and staff. Pangbourne will remain proudly Pangbourne, with the same values, traditions and community that make it such a special place.”
Patrick Roberts, Chair of Governors, said the decision was made from a position of confidence and ambition, adding that Mill Hill Education Group was the ideal partner to help realise the College’s future aspirations while respecting its heritage.
Antony Spencer, Chief Executive Officer of Mill Hill Education Group, welcomed Pangbourne to the Group, describing the College as having a distinctive educational philosophy and strong reputation.
The day-to-day experience of pupils will remain unchanged, with Pangbourne continuing to be led by Head Oliver Knight and the Senior Leadership Team. As the College approaches its 110th anniversary, the partnership reflects a commitment to preserving its proud heritage while embracing new opportunities for future generations.
