Sidcot School has been commended for International Student Experience in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2026, recognising its commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive and enriching environment for students from around the world.
Home to students from more than 30 countries, Sidcot’s international community is a defining part of School life. The commendation celebrates the School’s dedication to ensuring every student feels welcomed, valued and able to thrive, both academically and personally.
At the heart of Sidcot’s international experience is a commitment to listening to students and responding to what matters most to them. This approach has led to initiatives ranging from a more diverse food offering that reflects the cultures represented within the community, to the launch of a professional basketball programme, creating new opportunities for students to pursue their passions and develop their talents.
The recognition also reflects the strength of Sidcot’s boarding community, where students from across the globe live and learn together. Boarding provides opportunities for young people to build lifelong friendships, develop independence and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures and perspectives.
Many international students describe the School as feeling like a second home. One boarding student said: “The boarding community is very welcoming, and everyone supports each other. It feels like a family away from home.” Another commented on the opportunities to connect with people from around the world, noting that living and learning alongside students from different countries has broadened their perspective and helped them grow in confidence.
