More House School – Italian Ski Trip 2026

Posted: 23rd February 2026

A group of pupils and staff from More House School (Frensham), the largest and leading specialist school in the country for children with weakness in their literacy and developmental language skills, headed to Pila, Italy this January for the ever-popular annual ski trip.

The journey began with an overnight coach ride and a ferry crossing to Calais, giving pupils time to explore the ship before settling in for the long drive through France and the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Once in Aosta, the group collected their ski equipment and settled into the hotel, preparing for their week on the slopes.

Each morning started with the gondola ride up to Pila, an 8–10 minute ascent offering clear views across the valley. Pupils were grouped by experience and quickly got into the rhythm of lessons, with strong progress seen across the week. Conditions shifted from bright and cold to steadily snowier, giving everyone a mix of firm pistes and fresh powder to tackle.

The fun didn’t stop on the slopes. Evenings were busy with a rotation of activities: a local pizza night, ice skating, bowling, arcade games, and a supermarket visit before the end‑of‑week awards. Staff gave out an array of awards not only for technical improvement but also teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm.

What a week! A shining example of the rich co‑curricular opportunities available to pupils at More House School.
