At City of London Freemen’s School, Walbrook Boarding House offers far more than boarding accommodation. It is a welcoming, close-knit community where young people feel known, supported and truly at home. With a proud boarding tradition dating back to 1854, Walbrook combines heritage with a modern, forward-thinking approach to pastoral care.
Walbrook House offers full, weekly and flexi boarding to suit contemporary family life. Full and weekly boarding are available from Year 9, with flexi boarding from Year 7, providing a flexible introduction to boarding. Our small, supportive environment allows for highly personalised care, ensuring every pupil receives individual attention. Boarding staff are fully integrated members of the teaching community, supporting pupils academically and personally throughout the day and beyond the classroom.
Set within Freemen’s beautiful 57-acre parkland campus, Walbrook provides modern, comfortable accommodation arranged in small ‘pods’ of single and double rooms. Communal spaces encourage collaboration, friendship and a strong sense of belonging. Pupils join us from across the UK and around the world, creating a diverse and inclusive community that broadens perspectives and builds lifelong connections.
Academic excellence is a hallmark of boarding at Freemen’s. Boarders consistently achieve outstanding GCSE and A-level results. In 2025, 92% of A-level grades were A*–B, with 90% of pupils progressing to their first-choice universities, including 71% to Russell Group institutions. Alongside academic success, Walbrook places equal emphasis on character development, nurturing confidence, leadership, resilience and essential life skills through guided independence.
Wellbeing sits at the heart of boarding life. Pupils benefit from a dedicated pastoral team, on-site counselling, medical provision and strong safeguarding. Structured routines are balanced with downtime and access to over 150 co-curricular opportunities across sport, the arts, service and outdoor education. This commitment was recognised in the school’s most recent ISI inspection and through the national Wellbeing Award for Schools.
Walbrook House is a place pupils proudly call home – a community that celebrates achievements, supports resilience and prepares young people to thrive in a changing world.
