More House School – Neurodivergent Students Defy Expectations with Outstanding Exam Success

Posted: 1st September 2025

This summer, boys with literacy and language-based Special Educational Needs (SEND) have achieved remarkable academic success, exceeding expectations and national averages.

More House School in Surrey, a specialist boarding and day school committed to innovative and truly inclusive adaptive teaching, provides a transformative environment for boys with SEND. In August, students in Years 11 and 13—most of whom hold Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)—attained exceptional results in their public exams. These young men, many of whom were once told they wouldn’t access GCSE-level qualifications, have proven otherwise.

In Year 11, 73% of GCSE and Level 2 BTEC results were graded 9-4 or Distinction*-Pass. Over a third of students earned top grades (9-7 / Distinction*-Distinction), and 41% achieved seven or more good passes. In core subjects, 71% passed GCSE Maths and 91% earned passes in Science.

Year 13 students also achieve remarkable outcomes, with an 88% pass rate across A-Level and Level 3 BTEC qualifications. 71% of results were graded A*-C or equivalent, and 21% reached the highest grades (A* and A / Distinction* and Distinction). Many are now heading to university (including Oxford and Trinity Laban) to study subjects ranging from Music, Cybersecurity and Engineering to Fine Art and Wildlife Conservation. Others have secured apprenticeships, training, or exciting gap-year plans.

These students have not only achieved academically, they have developed independence and social confidence, built lasting friendships, found their voice and discovered talents they never knew they had.

Their success is a testament to their perseverance, ambition, and personal growth. In a world that often underestimates neurodivergent learners, these young men have shown what’s possible when the right support meets unwavering determination.

They didn’t just pass—they triumphed!
